Seoul City Warriors rounded off their 2021 with a thrilling match last night, coming from behind to snatch a well earned draw with FC Byucksan with almost the last kick of the game.
Final score: FC Byucksan 3 - 3 Seoul City Warriors
In contrast to the new applicants at last Sunday’s trial day, the team appearing on Tuesday evening featured many of the players that manager Jaewoo would most like to see taking the field in Warriors first league game next March. As such, the quality on display was something to behold. Standing in front of them were a K5 team FC Byucksan, who were sure to provide a stern test.
The first half of the game was played out to a stalemate, as both sides moved the ball around nicely, while also having to deal with rain showers and slippy conditions.
The game really came alive in the second half as, despite a period of dominance in which several presentable chances were spurned, Warriors found themselves two goals after some simple mistakes let Byucksan in. The game then settled down and Warriors night seemed done as Byucksan grabbed a third through a brilliant team move, leaving Warriors 3-0 down with barely 20 minutes to go.
However, Warriors then displayed an asset not seen before, one that will surely stand them in good stead for the upcoming season; fighting spirit. Their first goal came after a great save from the Byucksan keeper, who had a fantastic game, was immediately headed home on the rebound. Warriors were then only a goal behind after a shot from the right side of the box cannoned off both posts before nestling in the back of the net. The comeback was finally completed with almost the last kick of the game, when some intricate build up play and slick passing presented a chance, and the ball was brilliantly curled into the top corner from inside the box to spark wild scenes of celebration.
A fantastic comeback and hopefully the first of many stirring memories made for the club.
Sunday sees the final trial day of the year, and a last chance to join this rapidly improving squad.
